On Last leaving My Father's Home

Searching your memory
I pass the amber river
flashing in evening light
a patterned dance
under cool shade of tree.

I am restless, alone:
one of several last leavings
from my childhood home.

When as if hearing
I feel my Father say

I have prepared you;
made much possible;
and
I love you.
Smile,
think more of others.
Letting go is in the nature of things.

I have prepared you
and love you.

Go, but not alone.
