Riding The Pelt Of The Sea

RIDING THE PELT OF THE SEA

Rising on a swell our kayaks bottom
singly sucked like sea birds,
half under looking out
we roam through channels of elliptical froth,
cheetah spots, stretching and breaking
on the pelt of the sea.

What creature carries us forward
cancelling fear with exhilaration
in Beauty's moment?

Viewed from above
we might appear
a convoy, entering port
on some ancient sea chart.
