IF MATTER HAS A MEMORY

If matter has a memory
we'd pencil in old hands
perhaps commissioning
a biography of water
for the next who's who
and interview the air.

We'd ask them
if their passing by
was just a visiting card
and had they called to moon?

If matter has a memory
we'd lunar step more gently
and consider having cocktails
with the universe next door.
