THE FLOWER TRAIL
We walk on hillsides
among alpine plants
that salute us tall,
in smallness there are Pinks,
Bonneted Whites
and Bellied Orchids.
Dragonflies preside over
their dew-dropped worlds
of Web-Cracks, Crickets
and Other Things.
Separate and pelleted mounds
hide tunnelled undergrowth
from Crawlers, Furries, Moists and
Beetle Wings.
At lunch
some butterflies
make air-knots
while others
pulse their wings
ready for take off
from the tablecloth.
